STATE OF ALABAMA, Shelby County.

In Circuit Court -- at September Term, 1852 The Grand Jurors for the said State of Alabama, sworn and charged to inquire for said County of Shelby upon their oath present, that Louis L Tulane late of said County, on the first day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-two in the County aforesaid, did sell a commodity to wit one pound of tobacco of the value of ten cents to a slave named Joe the property of James M Finley without the care or consent of the master owner or overseer of said slave verbally or in writing expressing the article permitted to be sold

contrary to the statute in such case made and provided, and against the peace and dignity of the State of Alabama.
