The State of Ala To any Legal Officer Shelby County for said County greeting whereas complaint has been made to H. V. Nabors as acting justice of the peace for said county on oath of Filmore C. Brasher that on this the 30th of July 1852 in the County of Shelby said State afore said did see one Lewis S Tulane sell good, and receive money from a negro man as a slave belonging to one James M. Finley without an order or consent of said Finley contrary to the statute in such cases

These are therefore to command my all in the name and by the authority of the State of Alabama for this with to arrest the body of Lewis, S, Tulane and bring him before me or same other justice of the peace of said county answer this said complaint and further to be delt with acording to Law and do you make due Return make given under my hand and seal this 31st July 1852

The State of Alabama Shelby County Know all men by these presents, that we Louis S. Tulane & James M Finley are held hereby bound with Henry W. Colier Governor of State of Alabama & his successor in office in the sum of five hundred dollars. to be bound at our respective goals beholthen this Ibusements & - To be void on condition that the said Louis S. Tulane makes his personal appearance at the next term of the Circuit Court to be holden in & for said County at the place of holiday the same on the Second Monday in September next & shall continue from day to day & from time to time there after untill discharged by due course of law, then & there to answer to an Indictment to be then & there prefered against him for selling to a negro man Slave named Joe an action of Mr Nawlin of the value of fifteen cents, without the leave or consent of the owner, master or overseer of said Slave &c
