Dear Major Pugh:

Thank you for looking up the records of Charles Barney. At least we know where he didn't attend now.

An old annual speaks of him as Colonel Chas. R. Barney, of Maryland, who had retired from the United States Army, and was known to Bishop Polk in his West Point days.

Someone, no doubt assumed this or from other references that Barney attended West Point.

We'll start all over on him now.
