To our beloved brethren in the
South has been left a legacy of Zeal and
devotion, never surpassed, and rare
ly equaled in the whole range of
American history,. And the memory
of his Labors for the Church and his
sacrifices in the course of independence
will be cherished in the hearts of thou
sands, through future generations,
after the false glory of worldly triumphs
shall have passed away.

A few years more—perhaps much
earlier—and I shall meet him and
his admirable colleague, Bishop El-
liott, as I humbly trust, in the para
dise of God. Such too, my dear and
afflicted friend, is your own hope,
through the merits and sacrifice of our
diving Redeemer. Let us cherish it
as the only hope that can support the
soul, in our pilgrimage of sorrow &
toil thorugh this sinful and suffering
world, That the Lord may sustain
