Polk Letters: September 20, 1858

1858, Sept. 20

Bishop Polk, New Orleans, La., to Bishop Elliott, re: sending him the letter and map-proof for his inspection; inquiries about is directions to the engraver to suspend operations concerning the map, his opinion that the map should accompany the Address to arrest attention and to give the movement character of thoroughness and scope; setting forth the expenditures - advising him to order 5000 copies of both maps at once and let them be out with the address as soon as possible; mentioning the turnpike; commenting on an epidemic of fever in New Orleans. 4 pp, ( 1 mss. original, 1 typed copy, 1 Photostat copy).
