not except {sic}; referring to his previous letter concerning his refusal of the invitation
for him to return to the University to complete an agreement made previously
between them; stating that he remained as zealously interested in the grand
design and is sincerely desirous of its success, as ever; his own efforts of
establishing an institute in Vermont and his contributions of $750.00, the sum
which was paid him for his sojourn in Sewanee; other matters concerning his
