its foundation. Our aims are higher; the intellectual, moral, and religious improvementof the people in the Southern part of the Mississippi Valley. If we fail we shall return to the sphere of our unobtrusive labors, concious of having done what we could, in a great and noble cause, but sad and sorrowful in anticipating a long night of darkness and gloom, which we fear will overshadow the prospects of the Prot. Epis. Church in the South West.

To carry out the object here stated, the following proposals are herwith submitted to the public

1st. That subscriptions be made of the gross amounts to be given.

2d. That these subscriptions be made payable in three equal instalments: viz. The first instalment to be paid the first day of June 1836. The second instalment the 1st June 1837. And the third instalment the 1st June 1838.

3d. That these payments be made to, on deposit and subject to the order of the convention of the Prot. Ep. Church in Tennessee, to be employed for the purposes heretofore designated.
