Rt Rev and Dear Sir,
Touching the share of Georgia, H TO. in the expenses of printing for the University of the South. I wrote to Mr. Gordon, but have recd no answer. Nor is Georgia peculiar in overlooking the matter. for the mean time the bills could be delayed no longer, and have been paid with borrowed money.
[underlined]Dire receipts[/underlined] compels me to beg that some of your good laymen will relieve me in this matter.
I suppose you have seen something of the newspaper controversy about Sewanee. I much wish that we could have some one of the many locations at which all would agree some measure of success is possible : but conscious that my character for aimiability is in peril of try to keep very quiet.
Have you heard that Bp [unclear]Otey[/unclear] is Rector of Calvary in Memphis and Dr [underlined]Coliste[/underlined] elected apistant over numerous competitors ! A stranger who passed through Memphis just before the election, told me he heard Dr White deliver the production which had won his D.D. adn that its effect was wonderful ! Mr. Gibson lately passed on his way Miss : may he take a new growth in the new soil !
