showered debris & flame through my peep-hole.

Throughout the day a strong trade has been blowing. Dust is everywhere. I feel quite irritable while I have to bear it. High up here it is no worry.

Tuesday: I have just come down from the mess in pitch darkness. The sky is aglow - presumably bush fires. Out on the mess verandah was held a theatre premiere. So soon as some films arrive we shall have our own talkies. That Cinesound newsreel of P.I.B. [Papuan Infantry Battalion ] was the only feature. Gosh I was suprised at the amateurish filming. Apart from the misuse of too many close-ups it wasn't bad. Different angles may have disclosed our strength of course. You may remember seeing a native Sgt in shorts & shirt, he was standing by the Brigadier & interpreting his speech. That Sgt was Sgt [Hare?]

When time permits I am having portrait taken - for you especially, pet.

Have you heard of Judge Gore? His son is an officer in our unit. While in Brisbane he was pretty sweet with the Lyons girls. Though I've made only casual acquintances amongst the
towns people, they have all invited me to dine at their homes. I am reluctant to accept but shall do so. I've even had a few empty headed, though not unattractive young misses angle for

After a full stop when Alan writes the word 'the' it appears that the t isn't capitalized. I am not sure if this is just his writing style and it is in fact meant as a capital t. As I am unsure and it is not clear I am keeping such examples as lower case, which is how the t appears. Other words at the start of sentences correctly and clearly start with a capital letter, so hence the confusion.

Hope I am making sense. Possibly overthinking it.

Hi Charles, I've had a look and I think it's safe to assume it's his way of writing, so I've proofed the text and made them capitals where necessary. Thanks for the all your help. And no you aren't overthing it. Cheers.
