My arms are free from boils again. I almost had a repetition of last xmas with another absess. After I was knifed they gave me brandy, time for a nap, then sent me back to work. The drains worked out & I spent most of the days having it dressed. I'm clear again thank goodness. Young Day from Wellington pt. had an attack of fever. I met him lying in the next bed. He'd had the real ordeal. The pain sent him delerious thats when he swore he'd kill the nurse if she forced another pill down his throat. I sat up with him afraid he'd kick the bucket. It was the way that he'd suffer his foot to be gashed & probed that won my admiration.
Mine was only one cut - His were almost daily. Herb's nature was always a tonic to me but I never had any confidences with him. I told Herb that I would not be offended if he found reason to invite you out for social reasons. Beyond that I offered him no other liberty. His intentions will be most honourable. Don't stun him too much he is fresh from the tropics and it may turn his head. If I had reason to doubt him ever I would never have given him an introduction.
