Sir,

In reference to the Petition of James Davison
Senior of Lower Wilberforce, requesting his Excellency the Governor
to permit his son James Davison Junior at present at Moreton
Bay to be assigned to him, I beg to state for his Excellency's
information that I was Prosecutor in the case in which
the Said James Davison was convicted --- that I did not entertain
hostile feelings towards him but acted the part of Public
Prosecutor from a desire to further the ends of the law. ---
That as far as I am concerned I should feel happy to do any
thing that might tend to mitigate his Sentence or restore
him to his wife and family.

Mr. Davison, Senior, has long been resident
in this neighbourhood, and has always borne an unim-
peached character, and I have no doubt were his Son
assigned to him he would have such influence over his
future conduct as would render him a peaceable and
I trust, a useful member of the Community.

I beg also to state that the said James
Davison Junior has a Wife and family, that his
Father is now in an infirm state of health, having no
