Commissariat Office Sydney, 26th April 1833 Sir I have the honor to inform you that the clothing for the halfyearly supply to Convicts in Government Employ in Sydney and its neighbourhood will be in readiness for issue on the 1st proximo, and as some confusion took place at the last delivery by the overseers not having their entire Establishmts. mustered, it is requested that you will be pleased to communicate with the Heads of Departments so that arrangement may be made that the whole of the Convicts may be in attendance with their respective Superinte= =dants at the places appointed for muster.- It is also suggested that it

[left margin] Reccomending that the issue of clothing in Sydney take place at the Commissariat Store, instead of the several Establishments as herefore.- It is very late to make any alterations in the establshed routine and I cannot reccomend this under any circumstances, which proposes to collect together the whole of the Govt convicts in Sydney for no purpose that I can see, but saving the issuing Officers a little trouble-

6 it would be much more regular and attended with greater. convenience were the Convicts in the following Establishments mustered, at the Commissariat Magazines at the Lower Stores George Street to receive their clothing at 7 o'Clock in the morning, from whence the distribution might take place instead of at Hyde Park Barrack, the New Gaol, Carters Barracks Or as hitherto, a practice which has been attended with loss of Public Property.

The Parties which I presume will draw their clothing in Sydney are the following. viz". Supt of H.P. Barracks {In and out of Barracks {Light House) Superintendent of _ Carters Barracks Mineral Surveyor _ Minl Surveyor's Dept Asst" Surveyor Laris _ {1 Road Party {Boats from Ironfors[?] Asst" Surveyor Inspector[?] _ 7 Road Party [right margin align]As

As the day of issue is so near at hand, it is necessary that the Individuals above mentioned, should be immediately apprised of this arrangement in order to secure their attendance with their respective Establishments.

Clothing shall be sent to the undermentioned Establishts. viz Sydney Hospital Sydney Gaol Phoenix Hulk Goat Island, Ironed Gang and the issue Superintended by an Officer of this Department

Mr. Laidley called to mention that although the distribution of the Clothing at the Commissariat Store, as purposed in his recent letter, will be most convenient and secure, yet if thought objectionable on account of taking the men through the Streets, he does not wish to push it-
