To, - His Excellency Major General Richard Burke Governor, in Chief &c...&c...&c

The humble Petition of Thomas Jackson "Came Free" tried at Quarter Sessions Sydney, 17 April 1827 for Larceny and sentenced 7 years.

Most respectfully showeth, -

That your Petitioner arrived at the Settlement of Moreton Bay 20'th July 1827; (to the present time) has not, during that long period been once punished for misconduct, a confirmation of which statement he hope the following attestation will affirm.

That your Petitioner with due submission most humbly entreats your Excellency to take into your consid= ration, his special good behaviour for upwards of 5 years and 8 months, and allow him a remission of Colonial Sentence according to the Penal Regulation dated 1'st December 1831, and your Petitioner will ever pray &c...&c (signed) Thomas Jackson
