The Commandant of Moreton Bay submits the cases of three men now serving at that Settlement under the circumstances stated in the 2'nd and 3 pages this letter, and requests instructions - ------------------------------- As these men were forwarded to Moreton Bay not strictly in accordance with law, orders are to be given it is presumed for their return to Head Quarters

Gov'rs Decision [underlined] It is not certain from the mere Inspection of the Committals that these persons have been illegally convicted the Attor: ney General may however be induced to Enquire -

It is clearly intended that Jones shld be detained at Moreton Bay until 17 months after the expiration of his original Sentence - shd 17 months being I presume the time he was illegally at large -----------------
