Seattle Sept. 18, 1885: The Honorable Mayor & Council of the City of Seattle. Gents: I stand ready to furnish the lumber required for the use of the City of Seattle for the year 1885&6 at eight dollars ($8.00) per thousand feet at my mill. According to the bid connected with my name in the published proceedings of the last meeting of the Council -Sept 8- and to give sufficient guaranty that the hauling of the same shall cost no more that from any other mill. Seattle Sept 14, 1884 Mr Furth Dear Sir Yours of the 12th [?] at hand and contents noted. I failed to state in my bid where the lumber would be delivered. That arose from a complication of matters which are not done yet. I will state - however for the benefit of the committee of which I judge that you are the Chairman that I will deliver the lumber not further distant than the Western Mill Lake Union. I shall not urge my bid upon your honorable committee as perfect liberty- W disregard it- Yours etc. E F Blaine
