To his Hon. the Mayor and
Common Council of Seattle
Gentn: The undersigned respect-
fully represents that on 22nd of
April 1889 he procured a liquor
license for a saloon No 417 South
2nd street known as "Chicago House"
That said Chicago House was totally
destroyed by fire and the approaches there-
to so that it has been impossible to do
business there since the fire that the
undersigned not been able to start
business again and has done no
business since June 6 1889 - leaving
10 1/2 months license yet to run - valued
at $472.50
Wherefore your petitioner prays that he
be allowed the sum of $472.50 and
that the same be returned to him on
such unexpired license.
