Mr. President:
Your committee on claims
to whom was referred the claim of Mrs. Celia Cook in
her own behalf and as guardian of her minor
children, Wm Boyd Cook and Cecy May Cook, the
widow and children of Wallace Cook, for $25000.00 for
damages for the death of said Wallace Cook alleged to have
been caused by the negligence of the city. By leave to report that
it has carefully considered all the matters connected with
said claim and recommends that, by way of compromise of
the same, the sum of $3500.00 be offered to Mrs. Celia
Cook and for her minor children in full settlement of
said claim, provided that the authorization of the superior
court of King County be obtained for such settlement
on behalf of said minor children, and that, upon
the acceptance of said offer and obtaining such authorization
an ordinance to placed for the appropriation of said sum for
the purpose of such settement sum.
