To the Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council of
the city of Seattle.

We, your petitioners, owners of real property contiguous to
the herein proposed street, would respectfully pray for the
location and establishment, as provided by law, of a street, to
be eighty (80) feet in width; beginning at the intersection
of Ranier Avenue and Lane Street, in "The Hill Tract Addition
of the city of Seattle", and running thence in a southerly
direction, corresponding with the line of the Ranier Electric
Railway, to the southern boundary of the city of Seattle, ex-
cepting so much thereof as is already dedicated as a street.

We would respectfully offer as a few of the reasons for
locating said street; that there is a large and rapidly in-
creasing population adjacent ot said proposed street, which has
no direct communication with the business portion of the
city; that a considerable portion of said street will be
through unplatted land; that a county road will, in all prob-
ability, be laid out this summer, which will connect with the
southern end of said proposed street at the city boundary, and
which will extend south through a thickly settled portion of
the County, to which there is now no direct road from the city
and extend to the town of Renton; that said road will be
direct and comparatively level, and will make one of the best
drive-ways in the city; and that the topography of the coun-
try is such, that the line of the proposed street will be in
the natural course of the sewer, to connect a large portion of
the city with the sewer tunnel, now being constructed in the
lower part of the city. The damages awarded property
owners may be assessed on property benefited is deemed advis-
