A. M. Kent requested pay for the days he was sick and unable to perform his duties as a police officer. While he was sick the Chief of Police dismissed him from the police force because he did not receive notice that he was sick. Mr. Kent claimed that he had sent notice. got to do with it I believe you are entitled to your pay and shall sign the bill. Captain Manning after reading Chief Rogers' protests signed the bill. The Auditing Committee knew where the bill had been. where it came from and what it was, when they sanctioned it. that Finance Committee knew what the bill was when they endorsed it and recommended its payment. The Honorable Board of aldermen knew what it was when it passed the board. the Committee on Claims knew what the bill was when they signed it and recommended its payment. Mayor White, Commissioiners, Dr G O Guy and Captain Manning knew all about the bill when they signed it. Chief Rogers stated to the Honorable House of Delegates that no verbal of written report of my sickness had been received at Police Head quarters till after May 24th 1891. this statement is contradicted by the affidavit of officer John W Sanstrom A M Kent Subscribed and sworn to before me this 21st day of December 1891 Robt J Wilson Notary Public in and for the State of Wash residing at Seattle Wash.

Police Department Bolton Rogers Seattle Wash. May 24 1891 Hon Board of Police Commissioners City of Seattle Gentlemen: I have the honor to report that by virtue of Rules #46 and #48 of this Department. I have dropped from the Police Roster Patrolman A M Kent. he having failed to report to this office as required by the Rules and Regulations from May 13th, 91 up to this Date May 24 91 And have assigned Joseph Topping to act as substitute until the next meeting of your Hon Board.
