Seattle June 25th 1891

To the Honl The Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Seattle Gentlemen As you are aware my husband Harman Lawson who was a fireman at the time of his death, and attending duty as ordered, was killed on the 6th day of March last on Stetson & Post Wharf, and as he was the only support I had his death has left me destitute and no means of obtaining a living, I therefore ask your honorable body to take into consideration my situation and grant me such a sum of money that will enable me to support myself. If your honorable body will examine the books, I think you will find there was a [ ] on the [ ] at the time of my husband death of 320 pounds 200 punds more than the regular all manner. Yours Very Respectfully Mrs Lawson
