Be it remembered that on this the 24th day of October A. D. 1890 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Seattle meets pursuant to adjounment and after recess: in their room in the New City Hall: Prest Geo W. Hall in the chair. The following members are present at roll call. Bogardus Holbrook Korn Miller Pontius Snyder Wald Wilcox. Mr. President H.W. Miller City Clerk.

The following proceedings are had: Journal of the last Meeting read and approved.

Petitions

Petition of D. C. Thompson Et al for lights on 7th St. read and ref to Com. on Street Lights.

Petition of H. C. Burke Et al for the grading of Thomas Ave. read and ref to the Street Com.

Petition of M. J. Calligan Et al for the planking of 11th Street read & ref to the St. Committee.

Petition of G. Kellogg Et al for lights on Main St. read & ref to Com. on Street Lights.

Petition of S. L. Henderson Et al for lights on all street read & ref to the Com. on Street Lights.

Petition of J Stewart and Dahll and Hy Dorn for the liquor license read and ref to the License & Revenue Com.

Petition of J. Stewart asking for a rebate on his liquor license read & ref to License & Revenue Com.

Remonstrances

Remonstrance of Geo. W. Dornbach in the Matter of Condemnation of Main St. property. Read & Ordered ref back to peitioner with the information that the matter is now in the hands of the Superior Court.

Communication from the Board of Fire Com recommending a schedule of wages for the crew of the Fire Boat and the Fire Dept ashore read and ref to the Con. on Salaries.

Same requesting that the B of A secure the Madison St. Slip for the Fire Boat read and ref to the Fire & Water Com.

Communication from Cal Geo. G. Lyons declining the position as one of the Library Commissioners read and ref to His Honor the Mayor.

Corr. from the H of D accompanied by the petition of H. Stienman Et al. Stating that the petition had passed the House on a full vote. Read and ref to the Com on Street Lights.

B of A Bill No. 7 An Ordince: To prescribe the salaries & compensation of the officers and Employees of the City. The bill was called for its 3rd reading but owing to the fact that the bill had been read twice in blank it was agreed to call it up for its first & second readings as filled ant = Motion prevailed = Bill read 2nd time and ref to Com on Salaries.

Com: From H of D: House Bill No. 2: An Ordinance to provide for a Special Election to be held in the 8th Ward on Dec. 1st 1890 to fill vacancy caused by the failure of J. A. McAuslan to qualify passed H of D 3rd reading: Bill read 2 time and ref to Jud. Committee.

Joint Resolution No. 1: H of D providing that the Police Judge have the use of the rooms vacated by the City Council in the Old City Hall. Read and laid over under the rules.

Com: from the H of D submitting the report of Joint Finance Committee in the matter of W. V. Rinehart and others: Ordered that the report be received and an ordinance be created covering the matter be passed. All papers referred back to the H of D for action thereon.

Com: from the H of D returning B of A Bill No. 3 saying bill had passed the House as amended by full rate and returning B of A Bill No. 2 for Correction: No action. The Following Applications for Liquor Licenses were reported faborably on by the L & R Com and License ordered granted to the following petitioners E Davidson L V Schneider Otto Baure Loth & Drumen Haley Glenn & Co Pinkham & Coyle Nall Rengley J Conrad L Chopard Kaashen & Webafutz Fordham & Levey Hansen & Jacobson Clancy & Burns Pearson & Brand Grubb & Oleson McDonald Bros Mary Thompson E E Ryan R Daemon & Co Brown & Osborn Heart & Salvey R C Pearson All referred to H & D for approval Select Committee's Janitor Committee: The Applications of M S Goss and Louis Mingan were read Second time and rept to H & D for Concurrent action thereon. Standing Committee Committee on Street Light reports favorably an petition's of M J Cosbella and T P Dyer et al report was adopted as read and ref to H & D For concurrent action thereon. B of A Bill No 6 An ordinance pertaining to the duties of the City Clerk was read the 3rd time and adopted by a full vote.

B of A Bill No. 4 An Ordinance pertaining to the duties of the Coporation Council was read the 3rd time: Motion to amend by striking out Section 3. Carried. The bill was passed as amended by vote of 9 to 1. Bogardus, Holbrook Korn, Pontius Snyder Wald Wilcox and Mr. President voting in favor and Miller against the amendment. Referred to the H of D for concurrent action thereon.

B of A Bill No. 5 An Ordinance to prescribe the duties of the Board of Public Works: read third time and passed by full vote. Referred to the H of D for concurrent action thereon.

The report of the appraisers appointed to lay off & extend Broadway as a public thoroughfare as set forth in Ordinance No. 1489 passed by the Common Council August 30th 1890. Was read recommending the work be abandoned as the damages to property would be erroneous. Ref. to Jud. Com.

Motion by Korn that the City Clerk be instructed to furnish the Finance Committee with a correct list of all the property condemned for City & Street improvements and the names of the owners or agents of said property to condemned and
