Be it remembered that on this the 11th day of March 1882
the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Coun-
cil Chamber pursuant to the call of the Mayor for the pur-
pose of ammending Ordinance No. 259 in so far as to [?]
the words "and operate" in such placed as will make such
Ordinance as ammended be understood that the Railroad
Companies therein mentioned as to have the right to
operate [this?] such railroad rights.

The following Officers are present [?]: His Honor the
Mayor L.P. Smith and Councilmen John Collins, M. Dens-
more, Will A. Jennings, John Keenan, Moses Keezer and Charles
McDonald.

Thereupon the following proceedings are had:

There being no ammendatory Ordinance presented the
Council adjourns until Monday evening March
13th 1882 to consider such ammendatory Ordinance as
may be presented.

Thereupon the following proceedings are had:

The Council proceeds to consider Ordinance No 262 the same being
entitled "An Ordinance granting the right to the Oregon and Trans
continental Railroad Company an the Columbia and Puget Sound
Railroad Company and to authorize said Companies to construct,
maintain and operate a single or double track railroad
along the water front of the City of Seattle". Thereupon after due
consideration said Ordinance is adopted upon the following.
