of Seattle, County of King and Territory of Washington." After due consideration said ordinance is adopted by the following vote, towit; In favor of adoption: Thos Clancy, Wm. A. Jennings, G. L. Manning, M. Densemore, Chas McDonald and John Keenan. Against adoption None.

A petition is receivved from the Trustees of the M. E. Church asking for the refunding of $10.00 Licenses collected from Miss A. R. Luce. Said petition is granted and it is ordered that a warrant for $10.00 be drawn on the City Fund in favor of Chas K. Jenner.

The Street committee report on the petition of the Sisters of Charity praying for the vacation of the alley in Block 18 in Borens addition to Seattle. Ordered that said petition be granted and said alley be and hereby is declared vacated.

Ordered that the Council stand adjourned until Thursday, July 20th, 1882.

Be it remembered that on this 20th day of July, 1882, the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in it's council chamber pursuant to adjournment of July 14th, 1882. Present; His honor, the Mayor, L. P. Smith and Coucilmen John Collins, W. A. Jennings, John Keenan, Chas McDonald and G. L. Manning.

Thereupon the following proceedings are had. Ordered that the Chief of Police be and he is hereby instructed to employ 20 Special Policemen for one week.

The Finance Committee report on the Semi-annual Report of the City Treasurer; whereupon said Report of the Treasurer is approved by the Council, accepted, and ordered placed on file.

The Following Claims having been duly audited by the Council are ordered paid by warrant drawn on the City Fund.

The claim of Thos. Reding is referred to the Fire Committee. The petition of G. M. Bowan et al praying for the opening of Battery Street is referred to the Street Committee.

The Council proceeds to canvass the returns of the general election for all city officers held on the 10th day of July 1882, and finds the following to be the result, to wit:

Be it remembered that on this the 28th day of July 1882, the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in it's Coucil Chamber pursu= =ant to adjournment.

The following Officers are present, towit; His Honor the Mayor, L. P. Smith and Councilmen John Collins, M. Densmore, Wm A. Jennings, John Keenan, & Charles McDonald

Thereupon the following proceedings are had:

A petition is received from John J. McGilvra & others praying for a sidewalk on 7th Street between Cherry & Madison Streets. Referred to Street Committee.

A petition is secured from G. C. Phinney praying for the rights to clear in Pine & 9th streets of C.C. Terry's plat; thereupon the same is laid over.

A petition is received from Jacob Brunn regarding property on West Street. Referred to Street Committee.

And now the Finance Committee returns the report of the City Justice with their approval of the same. Report filed.

The Street Comittee returns the petition of G. M. Bowman et al for the opening of Battery Street with recommendation that the same be granted. Thereupon the prayer of the petition is granted

And now come Frank Peters and Wm Grose and make their several applications & Bonds for retail liquor licenses for the period of 3 months from the dates Aug. 10 & Aug 1st, respectively. Whereupon said Bonds are approved & said applicants making due
