Vickery for an ordinance with reference to the removal of rubbish. Referred to the Committee on Health and Police. Committees Reports Received From Councilman John Collins Chairman of the Committee on Public Buildings, Property and Grounds entering his protest against the meeting of the Council in the new City Engine House before the same is delivered by the contractor and accepted by the City. From Councilman O. F. Cosper acting Chairman of the Jail Committee entering the statement that the occupation of the New City Engine House was done after verbal permission first obtained from the contractor. From Streets and Street Improvements on the plans and specifications for sidewalks on Jackson Street under Ordinance No. 335 and Seneca Street under Ordinance No. 336, submitting certain changes on the plans. Adopted and surveyor instructed to make such changes From Streets and Street Improvements recommending that Chin Guan and Charlie Contractors be granted an extension of time in which to complete certain contracts, to wit: on Front Street grade under Ordinance No. 287 six weeks from Dec. 1. 1882; On Union Street grade under Ordinance No. 289 six weeks from Dec. 1. 1882 and on the 2d, 3d and intersecting streets grade two weeks from Dec. 1, 1882. Adopted. From Streets and Street Improvements rejecting the complaints of certain citizens against the manner of grading by Chin Guan and Charlie. Adopted and the prayers of the complaints refused. From Streets and Street Improvements recommending tbat Hoole and Simpson Contractors for the construction of the sidewalk on Union Street under Ordinance No. 324 have further time until December 20, 1882 in which to complete said contract. Adopted.

From Licenses and Revenue recomending the granting of the petition of F.X. Prefontaine et al for remitting moneys paid for a concert license. Adopted. From Licenses and Revenue recommending granting of the petition of Geo C. Thompson for using Beer's Concert license. Adopted. Claims Paid The following claims having been duly audited by the Council are ordered paid by Warrants drawn on the funds and in the accounts following, towit: City Fund F. X. Prefontaine License submitted No. 249 $5.00 Road Fund J. L. Kahaley hauling lumber No. 111 $1.00 Fire Fund The Gutta Percha and Rubber Mfg Co Hose No. 105 $579.50 Ordinances Received From the City Atty extending the time to complete contract on grading Front, Union, 2d and 3rd Streets. Adopted on the following vote, to wit: In favor of adoption Collins, Cosper, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald and Manning. Against adoption, none. From the City Atty submitting an ordinance entitled "To provide for the levying and collecting of a special tax for the purpose of raising funds to pay for the construction of a sidewalk on Pine and Ninth Streets under Ordinance No. 281." Adopted on the following vote, to wit: In favor of adoption Collins, Cosper, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald and Manning. Against adoption none. From the City Attorney submitting an ordinance entitled "To provide for the levying and collecting of a special tax for the purpose of raising funds to pay for the construction of a sidewalk on Stewart, Tenth and Virginia Streets under Ordinance No. 284. Adopted on the following vote, to wit: In favor of adoption Collins, Cosper, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald and Manning. Against adoption none.

183 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE be and are hereby granted until next meeting in which to report on the petition of A.S. Pinkham. Application for Licenses From Aug. LeBallister and Co. for Retail liquors granted. Ordered that the Legislative and Judiciary Committee be and they are hereby instructed to submit at next meeting an ordinance in reference to assesment levy and theit collection of taxes. Ordered that the City Surveyor be and he is hereby intructed to submit at next meeting plans and estimates for a custom of the corner of Marion and 3rd Street said estimates to show the cost of wood and brick customs. Ordered that the City Surveyor be and he is hereby instructed to submit at next meeting plans, specificatons and estimates for the planking of Commercial, South 2d, Jackson, Main, Washington, Mill and Front Streets. Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned until Friday December 15 1882.
