253 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE May 4/83

"Pike and Pine Streets under Ordinance No. 288." After due Consideration said Ordinance is adopted upon the following vote, towit: in favor of adoption Collins, Cosper, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald, Manning + Rasin. Against adoption none.

The Judiciary + Legislative Comtee submit 2 Ordinances each being entitled "A special Ordinance appropriating money to pay audited bills." After due consideration said Ordinances are adopted upon the following vote, towit: Collins, Cosper, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald, Manning, + Rasin. Against adoption none.

Special Orders of the Day And now in pursuance to the Notice duly published the Council proceeds to the correction and equalization of the following assessment Rolls under Ordinance No. 369 + Filed, April 12. 1883, towit: Washington Street Improvement, South 2d Street Improvement. Pending which the matter of such consideration is laid over until Friday May 11. 1883 at 8 o'clock P.M.

Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned until Friday May 11. 1883 at 8 o'clock P.M.

Reports Rec'd From Surveyor showing work done on James and Spring Streets Grade (Front to Alley). Referred to comtee on Streets

Committees Reports Rec'd From Judiciary and Legislative approving Attorneys Report. Adopted.

From Streets and Street Improvement recommending a special assessment district of all property fronting on first alley to West of Front Street from Marion to Union in order open such alley. Adopted upon the following Vote towit: In favor of such order Collins, Cosper, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald + Rasin Against the same none

Ordered that the Attorney be + is hereby instructed to submit an Ordinance therefore

Ordered that the City Marshal be + is hereby instucted to order the property owners to remove all obstructions from said alley the first West of Front Street from Marion to Union

From Streets and Street Improvements recommending the opening of 9th Street, 10th + Virginia Streets. Adopted

From Streets and Street Improvements recommending the granting of the petition of M. Keezer for the use of a portion of Cherry Street. Adopted

From Streets and Street Improvements recommending the rejection of the petition of D. B. Jackson for vacating alley in Block 56 of Maynards. Adopted + petition denied

From Streets and Street Improvements rejecting the petition of O. G. Roof et al for raising sidewalk in Front Street. Adopted + petition denied

From Streets and Street Improvements rejecting the petition of Bailey Gatzerf et al for grading 9th Street. Adopted + petition denied.

From Streets and Street Improvements recommending the grading of 8th Street from Union to Olive. Adopted upon the following Vote towit: In favor of such order Collins, Cosper, Clancey, Gasch, McDonald + Rasin. Against the same none

From Streets and Street Improvements recommending the grading of South 3rd Street. Laid over.

From Streets and Street Improvements recommending the establishment of grade lines East of 7th Street in accordance with Surveyors profiles. Adopted + Attorney instructed to submit an Ordinance therefor.

Ordered that the changes recommended by the Surveyor on Columbia Street at 5th be + are hereby adopted

Ordered that the Attorney be + is hereby instructed to submit an Ordinance therefor

From Gas Lights recommending a gas lamp corner Union + 5th. Adopted

From Harbor + Wharves approving Harbor Masters Report. Adopted

From Health + Police approving Health Officers report. Adopted

Applications for Licenses Ordered that licenses be issued to the applicants + for the periods following towit:

Claims paid The following claims having been duly audited are ordered paid by Warrants drawn on the funds + in the amounts following towit:

City Fund F. H. Whitworth Establishing Grades No 362+363 $895 Chronicle Printing Del. Roll 364 $54.75 The claim of Harrington + Smith for [-------] in the sum of $211.50 is rejected

Ordinance No. 369 and Filed April 12, 1883. Whereupon no complaints being presented as to any assessment in said roll + said roll being found to be correct in every particular. It is ordered that the Assessment Roll as returned be + is hereby approved + declared to be the assessment roll for such Improvement

And now in pursuance to the order made of date May 4, 1883 the Council proceeds to the correction + equalization of the assessment Roll for the South 2d Street Improvement under Ordinance No. 369 + Filed April 12. 1883. Whereupon no complaints being presented as to any assessment in said roll + said roll being found to be correct in every particular. It is ordered that the Assessment Roll as returned be + is hereby approved + declared to be the assessment roll for such Improvement

Ordered that the rate of assessment in order to provide funds to pay for the Improvement of Cherry Street under Ordinance No. 365 be + is hereby fixed in the sum of 3 mills on the Dollar

Ordered that the Plans + Specifications for Pike Street Improvement under Ordinance No. 375 as submitted by the Surveyor be + they are hereby approved

Miscellaneous Ordered that the Surveyor + Assessor be + they are hereby instructed to rehang the City Map

Ordered that the Attorney be + is hereby instructed to ascertain in whom the little vests [?] in the Intersection of 10th + Plummer Streets

Ordered that the Attorney be + is hereby instructed to submit an Ordinance to provide for the numbering of the buildings.

Ordinances Rec'd From the Attorney entitled, "To provide for clearing the Streets of the City of Seattle of obstructions." After due consideration said ordinance is adopted upon the following Vote towit: In favor of adoption Collins, Cosper, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald + Rasin. Against adoption none.

From Sisters of the Holy Names for vacating alley in Block 55 in Maynards. Referred to the Comtee on Streets and Street Improvements

From B. F. Day et al for the extension of Jackson Street Referred to the Comtee on Streets and Street Improvements
