COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE.

May 11/83

the following Vote Towit: In favor of adoption Collins, Cosper, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald & Rasin. Against adoption, none.

From the Judiciary & Legislative entitled "An Ordinance granting "unto H. Jones his heirs, executors, administrators and [assigns?] "The right to lay and Keep in repair Water pipes within the City of "Seattle". After due consideration said Ordinance is adoopted upon the following Vote Towit: In favor of adoption Collins, Cosper, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald & Rasin. Against adoption: none.

From the Judiciary & Legislative entitled "A special Ordinance "appropriating money to pay audited bills." Adopted upon the following Vote Towit: In favor of adoption Collins, Cosper, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald & Rasin, Against adoption none.

Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned until Friday May 18, 1883 at 8 O'Clock P.M.

Be it remembered that on this the 18th day of May 1883 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in it's Coun= cil Chamber pursuant to adjournment.

The following Officers are present Towit: His Honor the Acting Mayor Councilman N. M. Rasin and Council= =men O. F. Cosper, Chaz F. Clancy, Fred Gasch, Charles Mc Donald and G. L. Manning

Thereupon the following proceedings are had:

Petitions Received

From Jos Hodgson et als for the right to number the buildings. Refferred to the Committee on Public Buildings, Property and Grounds.

From Sisters of the Holy Names for Vacating alley in Block 55 of Maynards. Referred to the Com tee on Streets and Street Improvments

From B. F. Day etal for the extension of Jackson Street Referred to the Com tee on Streets and Street Improvements

From Fire & Water Supply recommending the turning over to H.H. Kent et al as a Fire Company of Washington No 2 Steamer Adopted

Ordered that the Chairman of the Fire Com tee be & he is hereby instructed to express to Fire Engine Co. No 1. the indignation of the Council at the receiving by certain members of said Company from the Oregon Improvement Co. of $60.00 for tendering their servi= =ces to assist in pumping into [Street?] Mississippi destroyed by Fire on May 13, 1883

Ordered that licenses be issued to the following named persons for the purposes & periods Towit:

The Attorney submits an Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance "establishing certain grades in the City of Seattle". After due cosideration the same is adopted upon the following Vote Towit: In favor of adoption Clancy, Gasch, McDonald, Manning & Rasin. Against adoption none

The Attorney submits an Ordinance entitled "To provide for "grading the alley West of Front Street from Marion Street to Union Street." After due consideration the same is adopted upon the fol= =lowing Vote, Towit: In favor of adoption: Clancy, Gasch, McDon= =ald, Manning & Rasin. Against adoption, none.

The Attorney submits an Ordinance entitled "To provide for "grading a portion of Main Street in the City of Seattle and for "the construction of a side walk in said Street." After due consider= ation the same is adopted upon the following vote, Towit: In favor of adoption Clancy, Gasch, McDonald, Manning & Rasin. Against adoption none

The Attorney submits an ordinance entitled "For the "Grading of a part of Columbia Street and for the construction "of a sidewalk on said Street" After due consideration the same is adopted upon the following Vote, Towit: In favor of adoption Clancy, Gasch, McDonald, Manning & Rasin. Against adoption none

The Attorney submits an Ordinance entitled "To provide "for grading a portion of James Street and constructing Side= walks therein." After due consideration the same is adopted upon the following Vote, Towit: In favor of adoption Clancy, Gasch, McDonald, Manning & Rasin. Against adoption [none?]

The Attorney submits an Ordinance entitled " to provide "for grading a portion of Eighth Street and to construct a side= walk therein." After due consideration the same is adopted upon the following Vote, Towit: In favor of adoption Clancy, Gasch, McDonald, Manning & Rasin. Against adoption none.

Be it remembered that on this the 21st day May 1883 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in it's Council Chamber pursuant to Ordinance No 344, as a Board of Equalization

The following Officers are present, Towit: His Honor the Acting Mayor Councilman N. M. Rasin & Councilmen O.F. Cosper, Chas F. Clancy & Charles Mcdonald

Thereupon the following proceedings are had:

And now the Council proceeds to the examination & equal= =ization of the General Assessment roll filed by Frank Seidel City assessor on May 7, 1883. Thereupon the Council proceeded with such examination until the hour adjournment at which time the matter of such further consideration is laid over until Tuesday May 22, 1883 at 8 O'Clock P.M.

Adjourned until May 22, 1883 at 8 O'Clock P.M.
