536 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Sept 8/84 vote, to wit: In favor of adoption Clancy, Frye, Harrington, Northrup, Snyder, Sox, Yesler, [Latimer]] & Rinehart. Against adoption none. The Attorney submits an Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance extending "the time for collection of assessments under Ordinance No. 572", After due consideration said Ordinance is adopted upon the following vote, to wit: In favor of adoption Clancy, Frye, Harrington, Northrup, Snyder, Sox, Yesler, [Latimer]] & Rinehart. Against adoption none. Miscellaneous And now the Street Comtee return the petition of the Seattle Lumber & Comcial Co for planking foot of Madison Street, Together with their report recommending that the same be denied & recommending further that said petitioners be authorized to make such Improvement at their own expense Ordered that the Surveyor be & is hereby instructed to examine the Beach Road & report Ordered that the Surveyor be & is hereby instructed to recommend a route from Lake Union to North School House. Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned until Friday September 12, 1884 at 7 1/2 O'Clock P.M. Attest: E.S. V. Rinehart Thereupon the following proceedings are had: Ordered that the Clerk be & is hereby authorized to cancel Warrant No. 442 drawn on fire fund for $757.00 favor of Sharpe, Coffman & Co. and to issue in lieu thereof, other Warrants in the said aggregate of $757.00 in favor of said Sharpe, Coffman & Co. 537 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Sept 12/84 sidewalk on Front - Temperance Streets. Laid on the table From J. F. McNaught for damages caused by the defective condition of 6th Street in the sum of $80.00 Referred to Judiciary Comtee Reports Rec'd From Chief of Police fixing Police districts and assigning Offices thereto. Referred to Police Comtee Communications From Chief of Police preferring charges against Officer T. I. Small, Referred to a Special Comtee Yesler, Clancy & Latime Committees Reports From Gas Light Comtee recommending the awarding of the following Contracts, to wit: Washington Iron Works for Lamp posts, J. Schram & co for repairs etc Referred to Judiciary Comtee From Street Comtee on the matter of Improving foot of Marion Street making the recommendations that a box drain be ordered placed therein connecting with Opera House Sewer & that Seattle Lumber & Comcial co be allowed to fill said street with sawdust. Adopted From Special Comtee recommending that the Chief of Police be instructed to remove all Chinese habitations from Clay Street. Adopted From Finance Comtee recommending that the petition of the Herald Pub Co. for reconsidering the matter of awarding the contract for City printing to the Post Intelligencer, be laid on the table. Report accepted And now the Surveyor submits the Specifications for the proposed planking of Commercial, Mill & Front Streets under ordinance No. 595, after due examination & modifications, the same are approved. Ordered that the petition of Fred Gasch et al for a Sewer in Union Street be taken from the table & referred to the Surveyor Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned Attest: E.S.
