COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE
Sept 19/84
A communicationis rec'd from Geo Louden offering to furnish Horses for
the night time at the Columbia Street engine House. Laid on the table
Ordered that the Street Commissioner be & is hereby instructed to purchase
a span of horses necessary harness wagon & dump cart
Ordered that the Assessment Rolls for Front Temperance Streets
Grades & Sidewalks be & are referred to the assessor for amendments under
the direction of the Attorney
Bids Rec'd
For the Proposed planking of Commercial Mill & Front Streets from
Blaine & Preston. Referred to Street Comtee
Ordered that a brake be attached to Hook & Ladder Truck under the
direction of the Fire Comtee
Orderd that no new applicant for liquor license be allowed to open
a saloon until after his application has been granted by the Council
Ordered the the present police force be reduced one additional member
at the next regular meeting of teh council.
Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned until Monday Sep-
tember 22,1884 at 7&1/2 o'clock pm for the special business of considering
the matter of planking Commercial Mill and Front Streets.

Be it remembered that onthist he 22d day of September 1884 the
Common Council of the City of Seattle meet in its Council Chamber
pursuant to adjournment
The followingofficers are present to wit: His Honor the Mayor
John Leary and Councilmen Geo F Frye, Alfred Snyder, E F
Sox
, H L Yesler, W G Latimer, W V Rinehart & B L Northrup
Thereupon the following proceedings are had:
And now the Street Comtee makes their report that the
bid of Blaine & Preston for the planking of Commercial,
Mill & Front Streets is too high & Recommends that the
same be rejected. Report adopted & Bid rejected.
Ordered that the Street Commissioner be & Is hereby instructed
