131 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Dec 30 1886 To the members of the common council of he City of Seattle, Gentlemen, You and each of you are hearby notified that a special meeting of the the Common Council will be held at the Council Chamber on Thursday December 30th 1886 at 7 P.M. for the transaction of the following business: To consider the matter of granting licences for the sale of liquor; to consider certain licenses for the sale of liquor heretofore issued for the period of one year and to consider other affairs pertaining to Ordinance No 767, relating to the liquor traffic, Dated Seattle } W H Shoudy Dec 23rd 1886 } Mayor Be it remembered that on this 30th day of December AD1886 the Common Councils of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to the call of the Mayor. The following officers are present : Mayor W H Shoudy & Councilmen C W Coulter, J.Furth, J Green, H D Hinckley, T W Lake & R Russell; The following proceedings were had; to wit-: Committee Reports Recieved, From Commitee on License & Revenue on petition of Thomas & Davis et al to amend Ordinance No 767 so as to make liquor licences payable quarterly in advance, recommending that the same be not granted. adopted. Councilman Lake moves to amend No 767 so as to make all liquor license fees payable semi annually in advance. Motion carried by the following vote ayes Coulter, Green, Hinckley, Lake & Russell, noes J Furth. Ordinance 796 An ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled "An Ordinance to amend Sections 5 & 7 of Ordinance No 767 entitled 'An Ordinance governing the traffic in intoxicating liquors within the City of Seattle' Approved July 31st 1886", which is passed by the following vote: In favor of the same C W Coulter J Green, [T D Hinckley]], T W Lake & R Russell. 133 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Jan 7 1887 Be it remembered that on this 7th day of January 1887 the CommonCouncil of theCity of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to law; the following Officers are present to wit: Mayor W H Shoudy and Councilmen J Furth, Jos Green, T D Hinckley, T W Lake, C F Reitze and R Russell The following proceedings were had to wit: The minutes of the previous meetings were read & approved Petition etc Petition of Frank A Pontius et al asking that the Council reconsider their action in regard to the Seventh Street sidewalk as the petitioners contemplate asking the Counil to grade siad Seventh Street & build sidewalks. On motion the petition is granted. Petition of Walter Harmon et al to raise the side walk on the East side of Third Street between University and Union Streets to a level with the grade Referrred to Street Committee Petition of W B Benjamin et al for Street Crossing on Madison Street opposite the residences of F Kindling & W B Benjamin Referred to Street Committee. Petitionof James McNaught et al for a Street crossing on Pike Street West Side of Fourth Street Referred to Street Committee. Petition of L B Andrews for a sidewalk on Madison St from Third Street easterly a distance of 136 feet to a connection with the sidewalk already built and in use from that point. Referred to Street Committee
