217 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Jun 17 1887 An Ordinance is submitted by the City Clerk entitled "A Special Ordinance appropriating money to pay audited bills" which is passed by the following vote, viz: Ayes Frink, Hinckley, Lake, Russell, Reitze. Noes none. Ordered that the Council adjourn until Monday June 20th next at 8 o'clock PM Approved W H Shoudy, mayor Attest W R Forrest, clerk Jun 20 1887 Be it remembered that on this the 20th day of June 1887 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment. The following officers are present to wit: Mayor W H Shoudy and Councilmen J Furth, J M Frink, T W Lake, T D Hinckley]], Russell & Reitze Whereupon the following proceedings are had to wit: Remonstrance of Toklas & Singerman et al against granting any one the right to erect fish stands at the foot of Columbia Street Referred to Street Committee. Remonstrance of E C Kilbourne and others against building a pest house on the property owned by the city where the Powder House is located, On motion the ovet of the Council on establishing the pest house is reconsidered and the matter re-referred to the Committee in Public Grounds & Buildings in conjunction with the Committe on Health & Police. 218 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Jun 20 1887 Extend and establish Second Street in the City of Seattle, and to provide for the condemnation of real estate necessary therefor". On motion the vote by which said Ordinance was passed is reconsidered over the mayor's veto. the motion is lost by the following vote: Ayes Furth, Frink Russell & Reitze. Noes Hinckley & Lake On motion of Councilman Furth the matter of extending and widening Second Street is referred to the Street Committee and the Committee directed in conjunction with the City Surveyor to examine and report an estimate of the cost of widening Second Street to 90 feet in width from Depot Street to Mill Street and South Third Street from Mill Street to King Street The Street Committee to whom was referred the plans and specifications for the improvement of Fourth Street from Union Street to Bell Street recommending that the same be approved and adopted and on motion the same are approved and adopted. On motion Otto Smith is appointed Clerk of Election for the Third Ward Vice R M Hopkins declined to serve. Ordinances An Ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitiled "An Ordinance to provide for the grading and improvement of Fourth Street from Union Street to Bell Street", which is passed by the following vote viz: Ayes Furth, Frink, Lake, Hinckley Russell & Reitze noes none. An Ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitiled "An Ordinance esteablishing the grade of Fourth Street from Kinnear Street to Bell Street

Ordered that the Council do now adjourn Approved W H Shoudy mayor Atterst W R Forrest clerk Jul 1 1887 Be it remembered that on this 1st day of July 1887 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment. The following officers are present, viz: Mayor W H Shoudy and Councilmen Coulter, Furth, Frink, Green, Hinckley, Lake, Russell & Reitze The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Thereupon the following proceedigngs are had to wit: Petitions & Communications Rec'd Petition of H L Yesler & Others to grade Mill Street from a point between Fourth and Fifth Streets to Williamson St Read and Referred to the Street Committee and the City surveyor instructed to establish the grade of Mill Street Petition of A Slorah & others to open Sixth Street in Pontius Addition from Lake Street to Battery Street Read & referred to the Street Committee Petition of R C Crawford & others asking the City to furnish petitioners 240 feet of 18 inch sewer pipe for alley in Block 61 Denny's Addition, petitioners agreeing to lay said pipe at their own expense. Read and referred to Committee on Sewers and Drainage. Remonstrance of Wm Renton & others against Seventh Street assessment Roll under Ordinance No 829. Tabled.
