Cloudy day, with some rain, hail and snow; the sun
came out for a few minutes in the afternoon: Joe went
to Washington: William took Lucy to Avondale, home to supper
and to Brooke Grove after supper: father at Uncle Samuels
in the morning.

24th. 3d.day.
Cleared off in the morning, cold and windy, every thing
covered with sleet, and looked beautiful, when the sun
came out: Joe came home from Washington: William at
Ashton in the morning, and Ingleside, at Sunny Side
after supper. Michael cut down the chestnut trees back of
the meadow.

25th. 4th.day
Clear and cold. William went to Brooke Grove mill
in the morning, for bone dust, then to the sale at the
widow Adam's, at Clifton to supper. Joe at meeting, hauling wood in the
afternoon: Henry and Mary Stabler and their little
boy here to dinner: Dr. Magruder called in the afternoon.

26th. 5th.day
Clear and cold. William went to Brooke Grove to take
some cattle, dined there, went back in the afternoon
to skate, at Fulford to supper. Joe hauling wood
all day.
