[H?]/9/1865 -1FALLING GREEN 9th moth 30th 1865 (Granville Farquhar Sec for the day) The Horticultural met at Falling Green on the above date not a full attendance of members. There were several visitors The "perpetual Forman" was very late from some unexplained cause. The meeting was called to order at a very late hour the above mentioned official should be more punctual or the members should learn to proceed to business without his now necessary presence.

The first thing in the way of business was the examination of the garden. The first thing that attracted our attention in the garden was a post-borer. its application to the subject was not fully understood. The attention of the Secy. was called to some Dwarf Pear trees the shoots of which were allowed to grow around the main stem the object of this was doubtless to dwarf the fruit as well as the tree. The vegetables cabbage turnips &c were very fine. The clothes line a Galvanized Telegraphe attracted attention it was enclosed in the garden. Some thought it would not do to have it when there was danger of persons riding under it or the Suratt & Payne tragedy might be reenacted on innocent persons.

The questions follow Q Should Salsify Parsnips & Carrots be left in the ground during the winter.
