We had the valuable article presented by
Hannah Stabler to Richard Iddings.
The former told of how peas around Milford,
[Dal.?] are being hauled to the factories
for canning. The vines are pulled up
& wagon loads of them pass along the
roads leading with the town; after the
vines are stripped they are taken home
& when cured make excellent hay for
cattle.
The 2nd article was an extract from a
letter from a friend in the South in
regard to rose cultivation.
The [?] came up to the mark - one
thing she reminded us especiallly, was
caring for our strawberry beds. If old
beds are to be plowed up, they shoul be
done in June, the ground fertilized &
worked well, & a new bed can be set out
in Aug.
The poultry count was not exactly a fair
test, as [one?] of our heaviest products
were absent - it was left in the hands
of the [Sec.?] to try & fill in some of the
missing places, so the following is the
report - [2290?] chickens; 138 turkeys
