these play their part in the dye make-up.
There are more than 1000 colors in dyes.
Indigo is made by hundreds of tons, &
quantities of turkey red is made also.
Our 2,000,000 men sent to France were
clothed in [?] khaki, made in America.

The [?] told us she had just
returned from a beautiful trip to Maine.
She had seen so much that was lovely to
look at, that it made it hard for here to
come down to such common-place things
as weeding & maturing home gardens!

This is the time she suggests for looking
after the asparagus & rhubarb plants, give
them plenty to eat if you want big
returns in the spring.

all spaces in the garden that are not
in use, & sow [?] [?] now for
turned [?] in the spring - as a green
manure. We were sorry to hear the
currant & gooseberry bushes had to be disposed
of because the insects had killed
the [?] - there is a blight among these
valued trees. She spoke of having seen
wonderful pine forests full of beautiful ferns.
