Brooke had success in planting slips from
her old bushes.

Cousin Cornelia then told us of her English
walnut trees - the tops seemed dead, &
she wondered if they ought to be cut
back. Others had had the same trouble,
& it was thought best to leave them, &
probably they will put out new growth
later. The cause of this is owing to the
cold spell we had in the late spring.

It was thought best to plant [?] new
blackberry bushes in the spring, rather
than in the fall.

Jessie McReynolds offered to give [ochra?]
plants to any who wanted them.

Some think from the 15th to the 25th
of July is the best time to plant winter
cabbage - one says the 1st of Aug. The
Pres. thinks it is best to plant late - he
has had greater sucess with late planting.

Sand & ashes will lighten the earth in
Mrs. Davis' flower garden.

Is it too late to replant lima beans
Some think if one has the beans & has
the hills ready, try it. One of our
authorities, Clarence Gilpin, says he
would not.
