still Hazy, tho the sun out
at times, by which we took the
observations _ Another failure among
the porpoises whom it would seem
we had declared war against _
But we should like a taste of
the fresh fish, altho we have had
fresh meat every day since
we have been out. __ Nearly
calm and a heavy swell in the
sea 3 or 4 knots an hour _
took a peep from the Main Top
Mast heads by clambering up
the shrouds _ _ The ship below
look like a certain road "long
and narrow" _ The Horizon
almost unbounded, and nothing
to be seen but clouds above and
water beneath _ while around
seemed to remind one of the "boundless
vacuity of Space". _ Two very
large sharks were said to be
playing round the ship but I happd
to be napping it at the time _
It is quite a curious sight to
observe the appearance of the
water. _ on soundings it looks
green, and off soundings
