[left column] 1st cold pleasant [right column] Went to church in morning. Rose was here. Learned several verses of Duteronomy and attended concert in evening. [annotation] Rose Wehking

[left column] 2nd cold pleasant [right column] Attended school, was elected President of school-society and spent evening in study. [annotation] Delphia Society

[left column] 3d pleasant clear [right column] Attended school, made out programme for society and spent evening in study.

[left column] 4th pleasant clear [right column] Attended school, announced the programe, and spent eve[n]ing in study and preparation for a speech.

[top] [left column] 5th clear pleasant [right column] Worked at home in morning. Had our picture taken in after noon, worked at shop, and spent evening in study.

[left column] 6th cloudy agreeable [right column] Attended church in morning. Rev. Schultze preached. Read in the bible during the afternoon and attended a lecture of Shimom, a Persian who spoke on "Persian Life and Manners".

[left column] 7th cloudy but agreeable [right column] Attended school. Learned a speech for society and doing other work, attended a lecture of Shimom who spoke interestingly on "Persian Manners + Customs"

[bottom] [left column] 8th cloudy agreeable [right column] Attended school, Did small chores about the house and spent evening in study.

[left column] 9th cloudy agreeable rained in eve. [right column] Attended school. Did the chores. Had the programme read for Friday and spent evening in study.

[left column] 10th cloudy rained [right column] Attended school. Did the chores. Began the study of Botany. Spent the evening in study.

[left column] 11th cloudy rainy [right column] Attended school. Delivered my speech on taking the office of president of the Delphia Society and presided over the society.

[left column] 13th clear warm [right column] Attended church in morning and partook of the Holy Sacrament. Attended Love Feast and went to hear Rev. Mahle in evening.

[left column] 18th cloudy cold [right column] Attended school. Did small errands. Listened to school programme in afternoon. Willie was secretary + Roscoe Vernon, President. Attended Northern Methodist church in eve.

[left column] 19th cloudy cool [right column] Worked in the house in the morning. Got our pictures from Franzlan's; paid three dollars. Wrote letter to Aunt Martha in Seattle. Spent evening in study.

[left column] 20th clear warm [right column] Attended German M.E. church in morning. Rev. Schultze preached. Learned four verses of Psalm XIX after dinner. At two oclock went to Joe. Hake at Berreuteris[?] Staid for supper. Had nice time. Attended German church in eve.

[left column] 27th clear cold [right column] Attended German M.E. Church in morning. Rev. Schultze preached a sermon. He preached farely well. Were informed early in morning that Hy. Steffen died and Uncle Albert drove out to Tell Grandpa & Grandma. Learned six verses of Psalm XIV. Attended German M.E. Church in eve. Rev. Schultze began revival services. [annotation] Albert Thee married Louise Christine Wehking, 1897. Henry Steffen died Jan. 21, 1901

[bottom] [left column] 28th warm windy [right column] Attended school. Worked about the house. Made out a programme of our society and spent eve in study.

[left column] 29th rainy [right column] Attended school. Did some work. Grandpa, Uncle Louis + Ella were here to attend funeral of Henry Steffen. Willie + I did not go because we did not wish to miss school. I wrote out an oration for Bert Seyman in evening and chose "Our Flag" as subject. [annotation] Louis Wehking's son Louis, married Gershing Ella (1882-1963) Wehking Brother Wm. F. Hummel [annotated] Henry Steffen, husband of Caroline Lesemann Steffen. He died Jan. 21, 1901, Nashville, Ill. She died Jun 14, 1897
