Family,

Just got back from picking up Bruce's [Capn?] in [Ko'ln?] then went for a night in Brussels and then Luxembourg - then to see a castle on [Rhein?] - then here. I've decided not to go with them to Greece or wherever on the 3-week break. It really bugged me the way they drove. They are always in a hurry to get to a city or someplace a travel book recommends. When we get there, look at Museums or whatever. It's okay for a part of the trip but I don't like it. Especially being in a hurry. We were going through beautiful country and neat villages in Belgium, because we got lost. They were mad about the roads being narrow, twists and it took so much time. Then we'd get to Lux, and find youth [hostel?] (real nice) and leave in morning. The funny thing is, is that if the above type of travelling was described to them (Bob and Bruce) they would agree that it's crummy and tourist-like. It's also dumb to see a quaint village and say "what a quaint village." I tend to do that. I think the most valuable part of travelling is to talk to people. It's my new goal. Anyway, I would like to travel slower - by bike or stay in one place. I also would really like to go to central Switz and rent [horses?] - without guides and ride in hills (recommended by request from me by a guy we got a ride with hitch-hiking). He said it wasn't touristy at all in central Switz, and it was a good idea.
