Martha Jane "Patty" (Reed) Lewis (1838-1923) was a survivor of the ill-fated 1846 Donner Party as an 8-year-old. She married Frank Lewis of Santa Cruz in 1856 at the age of 18 and they had 8 children before Frank died in 1876. After his death she became proprietor of hotels in Santa Cruz and Capitola including the Hotel Capitola and Capitola Park Hotel.
