Emmons Blackburn Ryan

Emmons Blackburn Ryan (1832-1919), commonly known as E. Black Ryan, was the personal secretary of Leland Stanford when he was Governor of California and President of the Central Pacific Railroad. He was present at the driving of the golden spike. He became the tax attorney for the Southern Pacific from 1871 to his retirement.
