Aylett R. Cotton, Jr.Aylett Rains Cotton Jr. (1874-1965), A.B. History '94 Stanford. Appointed as prosecuting attorney in the Philippines by Theodore Roosevelt in 1906. He returned to California to practice law, first as an assistant district attorney for San Francisco, then returning to private practice. He was elected to the San Mateo City Council in 1927 and served for many years, including as mayor. In 1935 Cotton was appointed to the Superior Court and served as a judge for several years.
