Alphonso G. NewcomerAlphonso Gerald Newcomer (1864-1913) was a Professor of English at Stanford from the University's opening in 1891 until his death in 1913. He wrote or edited several books on English and American poetry and literature. He also was known to present his own poetry on special occasions at the University.
