Frank CoveyFrank H. Covey (?-1905) came to Palo Alto when his father was named the first superintendent of the horse farm in the 1870s. After Leland Stanford hired Charles Marvin to train his horses there was great friction between him and Harrison Covey, who chose to leave. In 1891, after great success in training many champions on the Stanford farm, Marvin was lured east. In 1893, after Leland Stanford's death, Frank Covey became the final superintendent of the Palo Alto Farm. He was appointed to the State Board of Agriculture in 1897 and remained at the Stanford Farm until 1903 when almost all of the horses had been sold.
