Miss Kohl

Mary Elizabeth (Kohl) Pillsbury (1860-1908) was the daughter of William Kohl (1820-1893), a seafaring captain and founding partner of the Alaska Commercial Company, and Sarah Hunter Kohl (1836-1912). In 1905 she became the second wife of Evans Searle Pillsbury (1839-1934), founder in 1874 of the San Francisco law firm that later became Pillsbury, Madison and Sutro and is now known as Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP. Mary had been married less than three years when she became ill, had surgery for a "brain ailment", and died two weeks later.
