F.O. BOYD,
59 BROAD STREET,
NEW YORK.
My dear Mr Lathrop,
I feel I must drop a word of condolence in this great sorrow, and heavy loss which falls so heavily upon the entire nation. Few such benevolent men as Senator Stanford was, have lived in this or any other country. His loss will be felt far and wide, and will cut deep. But his good name will be honored by generations to come, and what better legacy can a man leave behind him.
Accept my condolences in your trial.
Cordially yours
F.O. Boyd
To Chas. Lathrop Esq
