Mrs. Leland Stanford,

Because of the history of the Leland Stanford Jr. University, showing the great good it will bring, and had its origin in such a God- given thought I have taken great interest in you all as a family. You had my sympathy when your Son died, and now in your present bereavement I offer my heartfelt sympathy, and pray that you may be sustained in this sorrow by Our Heavenly Father.

Yours very truly L R Carpenter. 361 Ross St.
