#526 Jones St Decr [December] 29 /96 [1896] My dear Mrs Stanford George Redding and I called this afternoon to see you about Dr Jordan's letter of dismissal to me, the Redding boys think you alone should be my arbitor and do not hesitate to say that Dr Jordans' insistence upon my immediate leaving Roble, was both unkind & unjust and that the bad conduct

of the young ladies after 10-30 p.m. should not be visited on me. I trust you received my letter of yesterday and be kind enough at your leisure to return President Jordan's letter. do you not think Mrs Stanford it would have been more in accordance with the Presidents high position to have given me a hearing. About the same time also came the copies of the Memorial addresses on the Life and Character of your honored husband. Senator Leland Stanford. It is very kind of you to send so many copies for distribution among his old friends and associates of the Senator in

his connection with the Seminary. Reserving a few for the Seminary library it will give me pleasure to distribute the remainder and I am sure that friends will greatly appreciate your rememberance, as we regarded your husband as the most eminent among the long line of illustrious alumni that the Seminary has put forth, and his name will continue to be an inspiration to the coming generations through the Educational Monument that he has erected as a perpetual legacy to mankind. Through me please accept the thanks of all who receive copies of the memorial volume. I take the liberty to send copies of our annual catalogue, and of the Owahgena - a periodical published by the Senior class. The Seminary is doing well considering the financial depression, and is making such advance ment in Educational
