Executive Mansion, Washington
March 14, 1896
Dear Sir:
The President has been waiting to learn Mrs. Stanford's address, as he understood she was not at home but inthe East somewhere, to acknowledge her courtesy in sending the wine, the product of her own vineyards. In the absence of her known address I beg to extend an expression of the President's appreciation of her thoughtful kindness and to thank her in his behalf for her consideration.
Very truly yours, Henry Thurber Private Secretary
