I am sure you want
to know why I am writing
from Arkansas. Father is
down here again on the
Commission to the Indian Territory
in which he has been occupied
ever since he left the Senate.
As he is now engaged with
the Choctaw Nation, which is
right opposite this place, and
as he had had some ex-
perience of the hotels on them,
the Commission decided to stay
on the borders this time.
It is a great improvement, I
must say, although not quite
all that could be desired

I want so much to know.
Direct the letter to
Pittsfield, Mass, as usual,
as I shall have left here
before you get this.

Father and Mother both wish
to send their warmest regards,
