Please receive the accompanying verses, which
were composed by my son, Alfred J.
Puckett, while confined to his bed, by
a shot which sent a bullet into his breast,
he is my only child, and he was so very
much disappointed that he was not able
to attend the unveiling of that statue,
that will be a monument to your thought-
